AM'73 Grad, Kathy Mathison Neuner, Up for Woman of the Year

AM 1973 Alum, Kathy Mathison Neuner, has been asked to be a candidate for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Woman of the Year.

What is Man & Woman of the Year?

Each year, in communities across the country, dynamic, passionate candidates engage in a spirited competition to earn The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's "Man & Woman of the Year" titles, by raising funds for blood cancer research. The candidates compete in honor of children who are local blood cancer survivors, the Boy & Girl of the Year. Every dollar counts as one vote, and the titles are awarded to the man and woman with the most votes at the end of ten weeks; the top local fundraisers in the country win the national titles. Man & Woman candidates are goal-oriented and compassionate. Their relentless efforts are focused on making life better for hundreds of thousands of patients battling blood cancers: leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

After graduating from Angela Merici in 1973, Kathy graduated from the Norton Memorial Infirmary School of Nursing in 1976, she received her BSN from Bellarmine College in 1986 and her Masters in Nursing from Bellarmine University in 2002. Kathy married Randy Neuner (BD'74) in 1977 and they were married 30 years before his death in 2007. Kathy and Randy had 2 children who both attended Holy Cross--Jason (HC'96) and Jeremy (HC'99). She is currently the Vice President of Inpatient Clinical Services at Clark Memorial Hospital and serves on the Board of Hosparus and U of L School of Nursing Advisory Board.

Kathy has a special interest in helping raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society because her nephew (a Senior at Bellarmine University) underwent 39 months of treatment, and is currently in remission.

To make an online donation or to learn more about the event please go to www.MWOY.org/KY and view Kathy's personal website by selecting “donate” and entering her name "Kathy Neuner".

Good Luck Kathy and thanks for all you do for the community!
